One of the most buzzed-about horror flicks of 2013 finally has a full trailer! That’s right, we’ve got your first look at James Wan’s inspired-by-a-true-story tale of terror The Conjuring.
Wan reconnects with Insidious star Patrick Wilson, who joins actresses Vera Farmiga and Lily Taylor in the new fright fest, based on a case handled by renowned paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. If those names sound familiar, it's because the Warrens were intimately involved with the Amityville Horror case, but that was hardly the only paranormal investigation they conducted during their careers.
Whether or not you believe in what the Warrens did for a living (I do not…) or that anything shown in The Conjuring actually happened, it’s hard to deny the power of this new clip – which features all the scares you’d expect from a story about ghost hunters tackling a paranormal entity.
Here’s the full plot breakdown:
“Before there was Amityville, there was Harrisville. Based on a true story, The Conjuring tells the horrifying tale of how world-renowned paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren were called upon to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in a secluded farmhouse. Forced to confront a powerful demonic entity, the Warrens find themselves caught in the most terrifying case of their lives.”
New Line and Warner Bros. clearly expect The Conjuring to scare up some big bucks at the box office – the film is currently scheduled to debut in theaters on July 19, right in the heart of summer blockbuster season. Sneak a peek at the trailer below and let us know what you think.
