Watch a Student Filmmaker Reimagine 'The Big Lebowski' As an Animated Kung Fu Movie

Feb 05, 2014

As the Coen brothers taught us, “sometimes there's a man… He’s the man for his time and place. He fits right in there.” In The Big Lebowski, it’s the Dude. His journey draws from a melting pot of influences, including noir and Western cinema — but a student has thrown kung fu into the mix.

This video remix of Lebowski and its beloved characters comes from a student at the Animation Workshop in Denmark. The assignment required a 30-second trailer inspired by the cult film. Trading L.A. for a shadowy Chinese pavilion, this brief, but amusing remake of the movie has us wondering what a live-action version would be like. Not to be a downer, but it also has us missing Philip Seymour Hoffman's Brandt. See what you make of this Lebowskifu video, below.
