'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' Trailer: When Enemies Unite, His Greatest Battle Begins

Feb 24, 2014

Those still trapped in cold weather are probably jonesing for the summer season to arrive, and good news is we don't have to wait too much longer, at least by Hollywood's standards. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will officially kick off the summer movie season when it hits theaters on May 2, and the trailers for it keep on coming.

Here's the latest one, titled Rise of Electro:

One theme we're seeing in each new trailer is the ever-present tease of a larger story in the works, especially with lines like, "When enemies unite, his greatest battle begins." This trailer continues to foreshadow Peter Parker's (Andrew Garfield) quest to learn more about his parents' past with assistance from his buddy Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), and that past will most certainly come back to haunt him in the form of several new foes.

We'll have to see if all these new villains stuffed into one movie ultimately drag it down, but we're thinking director Marc Webb and co. have figured out a plan to make it all work, especially since we already know there's at least two more Spider-Man movies coming after this one, with one potentially being a straight-up Sinister Six flick. There most definitely is a master plan, and after watching a preview like this it's hard not to want to devour this sequel immediately. The thing just looks great, and we haven't even mentioned our favorite part of it all: Spidey web-slinging his way through New York City. If Marc Webb does one thing right it's those unbelievable shots of Spider-Man soaring over the city he calls home, which will look absolutely breathtaking on the big screen.

What do you think of the latest trailer?
