See the First Images of Arnold Schwarzenegger from the Set of 'Terminator: Genesis'

Apr 23, 2014

Finally, here's photographic proof that we're getting a new Terminator reboot and that the movie--due out on July 1, 2015--is now officially in production. Skydance Productions posted this photo of the first slate for Terminator: Genesis, along with the following teaser message:

::SKYNET preparation routines complete.
::Initialization sequence complete.
::Reboot initiating in 03m00s

Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World) is directing, with a story that will apparently jump to various points along the former Terminator timeline, featuring the same characters from the previous set of movies, only they're being played by different people (with the exception of Schwarzenegger, who's returning to his iconic role, though it'll be different and expect his appearance to change throughout the movie).

UPDATE: Here are what seem to be the first official images of a dressed-down Arnold Schwarzenegger on the set of Terminator: Genesis. From the looks of those shiny black pants (and black sunglasses), it seems like Arnold is already in T-800 gear [via @TheArnoldFans].

Here's an image from Terminator 3 that shows Arnold wearing the same pants.

This one reveals concept art that didn't make the final cut.

Here's what Schwarzenegger had to say about the reboot not long ago:

“But Terminator is going to have the exact same feel. The way it reads, it has the same feel of Terminator 2. It’s big. There’s hard-core action and it has some really great visual effects in there, but not over the top. It’s not a Thor type of movie, even though it’s the same director. It has good special effects, but just enough to say, ‘Wow, where did that come from? How did they do that?’”

Other cast members include Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor, Jason Clarke as Sarah's son, John Connor, and Jai Courtney as John's future dad, Kyle Reese. All three characters were featured in the original movies, though it's not known how they'll factor into the reboot. J.K. Simmons, Dayo Okeniyi, Byung-hun Lee, Michael Gladis, Sandrine Holt and Laeta Kalogridis also star.

As promised, Terminator is back. What are you hoping to see from the new reboot?

Note: The "R.I.P. Sarah" at the top of the slate relates to Sarah Jones, the 27-year-old camera assistant who tragically lost her life on the set of Midnight Rider earlier this year.
