'Turtle Power' Documentary Clip: See How the Classic 'Ninja Turtles' Toys Were Made

Aug 13, 2014

The rebooted Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles hit theaters last weekend, but if this new incarnation of everyone's favorite heroes in a half shell doesn't do it for you and you require a bit more old-school charm, you should check out Turtle Power: The Definitive History of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Turtle Power is a feature-length documentary that hit store shelves today (August 12, 2014), but don't let its proximity to the new movie let you think this is some quick cash-in produced to promote the reboot. This is actually an independently produced movie that tracked down all the key figures responsible for the Turtles' success, and everyone came together to form an honest, open, and well-rounded picture of how everything from the original comic to the first movies to the toy lines came to be.

Speaking of that last bit, we've got an exclusive clip from the movie that features a look at the design mentality behind some of the toys, and what one particular toy set would have looked like before getting the axe.

Turtle Power: The Definitive History of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is available now.
