Update: A new trailer for the film has hit online, and while it's very similar to the first trailer, it does contain actual footage of Donatello and Shredder. Check it out:
If there's one upcoming 2014 movie that fans are most curious about in terms of what characters will actually look like, it's that Michael Bay-produced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. This is a film that will sort of reinvent the Turtles in their first live-action movie since 1993. It reintroduces a different version of their arch nemesis Shredder (William Fichter), with Megan Fox playing April O'Neil and Will Arnett as O'Neil's trusty cameraman Vern Fenwick. It also seems like we'll get a new backstory for the Turtles too -- one that strengthens their ties to Shredder and April, while ultimately sparking a debate amongst fans that will surely live on through the film's August 8 release.
Check out the trailer below.
You may have noticed from a few brief shots that the Turtles all have different body builds, and definitely look more reptilian than their previous live-action run back in the '90s, with Raphael sort of resembling Marvel's most recent incarnation of the Hulk from The Avengers. To help you identify each Ninja Turtle for those nonfans out there, the dude in red is Raphael, blue is Leonardo, purple is Donatello and orange is Michelangelo.
Here's the official synopsis:
The city needs heroes. Darkness has settled over New York City as Shredder and his evil Foot Clan have an iron grip on everything from the police to the politicians. The future is grim until four unlikely outcast brothers rise from the sewers and discover their destiny as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The Turtles must work with fearless reporter April and her wise-cracking cameraman Vern Fenwick to save the city and unravel Shredder’s diabolical plan.
So what do you think? Turtle power?
