The only way you would want psychotic Vietnam vet Travis Bickle (
Robert De Niro) to pick you up in his cab is by watching Martin Scorsese's brilliant
Taxi Driver on-screen, even though—in his own way—Travis is trying to protect lambs (such as a young
Jodie Foster) from Manhattan's wolves. The Berlin Film Festival will screen a 4K digital restoration of the iconic film in February.
Paul Schrader, who wrote the screenplay for
Taxi Driver, will present the restored version at the world premiere along with Grover Crisp, the senior VP for restoration and mastering at Sony Pictures. Although we don't yet have HDTVs that can display 4,000 lines of resolution at home, imagine how good
Taxi Driver will look in 1080p when it makes its Blu-ray debut on April 5.
