It's impressive how quickly one breakout hit can turn you into an action star. Sure, Liam Neeson was no stranger to playing a badass prior to 2008's Taken, but roles like those in Batman Begins, Gangs of New York and Krull always saw him in a supporting role. But a threatening phone call and a rampaging tour of Paris later is all it takes to go from supporting face puncher to King Throat Chopper in movies like The A-Team, Unknown, The Grey and now Taken 2.
Directed by Olivier Megaton (Transporter 3, Colombiana) this time out, Taken 2 finds Neeson once again saving his family from a gang of future dead kidnappers. Only this time, as the Yahoo-debuted international trailer shows us, it's not his daughter (Maggie Grace) who gets a sack put over her head, it's her mother (Famke Janssen).
Ever the family man, this does not sit well with the ex-CIA dad, who apparently still has plenty of phones and walkie talkies at his disposal. Hey, it wouldn't be a proper sequel if the filmmakers didn't double down on everything, so you better believe that if Liam Neeson can talk into it, he's going to use it to tell you he's about to kill you.
