The superhero movie news just keeps coming – here’s the latest from the world of comic book cinema.

Bryan Singer is set to unveil X-Men: Days of Future Past this summer, but it’s never too early to start hyping up the next X-Men feature. The filmmaker revealed some new details about 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse in a recent interview with EW.

Singer confirms that the next installment in the franchise will be based “somewhat” on the Age of Apocalypse story from the ‘90s. It won’t, however, be taking place in an alternate universe.

“[The movie] won’t necessarily create an alternate universe, but there may be some swapping things that I’m playing with."

Writer Simon Kinberg adds, "From a visual standpoint it actually may be a bigger movie than Days of Future Past because there’ll be disaster-movie imagery, like the title would imply."

Singer continues on, talking about how the current film will tie into Apocalypse:

"You won’t feel at the end of the movie that it set up Apocalypse. What it does is it sets up possibilities. But what we’ll discover in Apocalypse is that events in this movie made that happen. Apocalypse deals with ancient mutancy. What would humans have thought mutants were? What would mutants think humans were? You’re dealing with gods and things like that. And what if one survived and what if that found its way into our world?”

Sounds trippy. Expect all your current favorite X-Men to return for this new mutant adventure.

James Gunn confirms Guardians of the Galaxy will tie into Avengers 3

Guardians of the Galaxy

Marvel loves to weave intricate webs into its comic book films – things that tie one film to the next and create a cohesive cinematic universe where all these movies seem to coexist. That trend will continue with James Gunn’s upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy.

Gunn confirmed that Guardians is “definitely connected to Avengers 3,” in a recent interview, while also revealing a bit about Star-Lord’s history:

He was abducted from Earth (Missouri) at age eight and raised in a group of thieves and smugglers called the Ravagers. He's good with the ladies and a little bit of a d**k and very lucky. Thanos slaughtered [Gamora's] family and Nebula's, then raised them together as siblings. They were bioengineered to become living weapons, so he's really good at killing people."

Sounds pretty good, eh? [via Comic Book Movie]

Karen Gillan’s hair set to make Episode VII cameo?

Karen Gillan Guardians of the GalaxyThis story is pretty funny – and a fine example of how crazy all the Star Wars casting rumors have gotten.

Actress Karen Gillan had to shave off her lovely locks to play Nebula in Guardians of the Galaxy – but the folks at Disney kept her hair (in a totally noncreepy way) and turned it into a wig, which was then shipped over to the Star Wars props people – where it could, theoretically, be used in the upcoming film.

Gillan told the story to Collider:

“No, I was laughing hysterically. It really hit me when I woke up the next morning. That's when I was like, ‘Oh, my God, where's my hair?!’ But also, everyone kept me in good spirit. Everyone was laughing and telling jokes. Marvel are the best company to work for, they really are. They treat you really well. They made my hair into the most incredible well-made wig and they gave it to the Star Wars people. It's just so funny to think that my hair is made into a wig, next to all these Star Wars monster heads in a warehouse. I thought that was really funny.”

Instant nerd cred to the first geek who spots her wig in one of the films...

Amazing Spider-Man 4 won’t happen before Venom and Sinister Six spin-offs

Amazing Spider-man 2

Sony’s really been cranking out the Spider-Man movies, but after the third one things will slow down for our favorite wall crawler. Producer Matt Tolmach says we can expect at least two spin-offs between Amazing Spider-Man 3 and 4 – the highly anticipated Venom and Sinister Six features.

“Before we know what we do with Spider-Man 4, we're going to do Sinister Six, Venom and Spider-Man 3. There is going to be a lot of crossover in those movies. So we're just not at Spider-Man 4, because we still have a whole other Spider-Man movie and two other movies. So we don't know yet what [Spider-Man 4] is going to be."
