The Pact. A horror film. IFC Midnight acquired.

Chasing Ice. A documentary about a nature photographer. National Geographic Channel purchased TV rights.

How to Survive a Plague. A documentary about the uphill struggle to push pharmaceutical companies to develop drugs to combat AIDS. Sundance Selects acquired North American rights. (Thompson on Hollywood)

Wish You Were Here. A psychological thriller from Australia, starring Joel Edgerton. Entertainment One plans a fall release in the U.S. and Canada. (Indiewire)

Spike Sparks Controversy: Spike Lee’s new film, Red Hook Summer, has sparked no little discussion this week, as did his charged post-screening Q&A. Yesterday, James McBride, who co-wrote the script with Lee, published an open letter that has generated additional discussion and commentary, especially since it discusses the issue of Hollywood's treatment of African-Americans, and how Lee has been treated compared to George Lucas (and Red Tails); the entire is given a good overview at Shadow and Act.
