Who's ready for some rumors? I've got the latest inside skinny on Star Wars, Thor 3 and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in today's roundup. Let's get things rolling, shall we?
hasn't even started shooting Star Wars: Episode VII
yet, but that hasn't stopped the folks over at Reddit from putting on their Sherlock Holmes caps and pontificating on whether we might get a first trailer for the new film next week. If you're like me, you read that and think "no way is this happening", but hold your skepticism. There's actually some fairly compelling circumstantial evidence that makes the improbability seem plausible.
First, Abrams has a history of creating viral teasers for films -- and what could be bigger than an early clip for the new Star Wars to whip the fans into an even bigger frenzy? That's compelling -- but even more intriguing is the fact that this could satisfy the "big Episode VII reveal" we were supposed to get this month. Many thought that would be an announcement confirming the film's cast, but a trailer would work in with that too. And, finally, let's not forget that next week sees the international release of Thor: The Dark World -- which is another Disney project that would make a great launching pad for a teaser clip.
This is all speculation, of course, inspired by a Redditor noticing that the Star Wars
YouTube channel had released the first trailers for the previous films once per week earlier this month. Okay, maybe it's a stretch -- but we'll find out for sure on October 30. In the meantime, check out the original trailer for Return of the Jed

Chris Hemsworth talks Thor 3 Plot
"I think what’s good about this is that each time, with the Avengers, we sort of made it difficult to separate them each time there’s some sort of conflict it’s like where’s the rest of the team? And I liked that Thor has another universe or the universe to sort of take care of and keep him occupied. I think that in the comic book the sort of end of days, Armageddon aspect is probably the direction in which it will all head in. Where it’s sort of the end of all things and there’s obviously no script or anything when I read the comic books I thought it was an interesting way to go.”
Granted, Hemsworth has no input in the story's direction -- but the Armageddon/Ragnarok story arc would certainly make for an interesting film.
Amazing Spider-Man 2 viral ad teases fans, adds more villains
Viral marketing is a big deal these days, something that's not been lost on Sony Pictures as it continues work on The Amazing Spider-Man 2
. To help keep fans aware of the project in an ever-widening field of superhero movies, the studio has taken to releasing a fictional version of The Daily Bugle
to keep fans abreast of what's happening in the Spidey universe. The latest installment really should have the fanboys in a tizzy.
The newest story focuses on the upcoming trial of Dr. Curt Connors (also known as the Lizard), but it was filed by reporter Ned Leeds (who had major ties to the Hobgoblin). The article also points out that Connors' attorney is Anne Weying, who eventually married Eddie Brock and became She-Venom.
