People are obsessed with Star Wars canon. Any time anything happens in any corner of the Star Wars universe, fans begin doing the calculus to figure out how it fits in with everything else. It's why there are so many theories about who Snoke is, where the characters on Rebels will end up, and who are Rey's parents.
There's one big, huge slice of modern Star Wars that doesn't have to bother with keeping the storytelling straight, though. That's Electronic Arts' Battlefront series. It's basically the video game equivalent of a kid taking all of their toys from every Star Wars movie and banging them all together in the same sandpit. It's the only place where you're going to find Darth Maul, Yoda, Kylo Ren, Rey, and young Luke Skywalker mixing it up.
If that sounds like something that interests you, you should press play on this new trailer for Battlefront II. Yes, it does introduce an optional canonical story mode about a special forces stormtrooper who, unlike those dummies in the white armor, can apparently actually aim. But if all you want is to bend the Star Wars rules to have some fun in ways the movies never can, this is guaranteed to scratch that itch as well.
Check it out.
Battlefront II will be out on November 17, 2017.
