Update: We're being told that the below Facebook page is not affiliated with Paramount Pictures or Star Trek Into Darkness, which means no matter how many people like it, we won't be seeing the film's first trailer -- at least not this way. Sorry for the confusion folks, and we'll let you know when the real trailer will premiere as soon as we get word.
You didn't think J.J. Abrams and his merry gang of secret keepers were going to make it that easy for you to just watch actual completed scenes from the next Star Trek movie, Star Trek Into Darkness, did you? Naturally Abrams is making you work a little bit to see the film's first trailer, but not too much -- all you have to do is "like" their Facebook page. When their page reaches 500,000 likes (which, realistically, could happen fairly quickly once word spreads), the first trailer for Star Trek Into Darkness will be released online.
How much will Abrams divulge? Could this "exclusive trailer" be five frames instead of three frames (like last time), or will we finally get a decent look at the sequel? Guess you better start "liking" to find out. The film is due in theaters on May 17, which is seven months from today, meaning the time is right -- and the stars are lined up -- for our first glimpse at what they have planned for the Enterprise's next adventure.
In the meantime, here's the image they're teasing us with. It looks like a player, but when you click play... nothing. We imagine it will be turned on once they reach 500,000, and as of this posting they're at a little over 1300 likes. So get going. Go! Like the thing! We want to see some Trek!
