If you caught The Hobbit in select IMAX theaters over the weekend, then you may have already seen the first nine minutes of Star Trek Into Darkness. Oh, but there's more! Following last week's brief teaser trailer comes this longer trailer that doesn't reveal too much more of what we've already seen, but it does reintroduce the cast and bombard us with what looks to be a number of ambitious action sequences that will no doubt take advantage of the fact that this will be the first Star Trek movie in 3D that also has scenes shot for IMAX.
Check out the trailer below, or over on Apple. And no, it (thankfully) doesn't reveal who the villain is, only that he means business.
Star Trek Into Darkness hits theaters on May 17, 2013.
Synopsis: "In Summer 2013, pioneering director J.J. Abrams will deliver an explosive action thriller that takes “Star Trek Into Darkness.” When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis. With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew."
