Here's When You Can Watch the First Trailer for 'Star Trek Beyond'

Here's When You Can Watch the First Trailer for 'Star Trek Beyond'

Dec 07, 2015

One major advantage to Star Wars: The Force Awakens hitting theaters on December 18 is that along with it will be a bunch of new movie trailers touting some of next year's biggest movies. According to The Hollywood Reporter, one of those movies will indeed be Star Trek Beyond.

Yes, a Star Trek movie being promoted in front of a Star Wars movie. It's fate!

Star Trek Beyond doesn't hit theaters until July 22, 2016, but that's not stopping Paramount from taking advantage of the hype around The Force Awakens by promoting a movie many Star Wars fans will also be interested in.

What do we know about Star Trek Beyond right now?

Not much. We know Justin Lin (Fast Five, Fast & Furious 6) replaced J.J. Abrams as director on this third installment, and that Simon Pegg helped write it alongside Doug Jung.

Reportedly an original draft of the script was a little "too Star Trek-y," and when Pegg and Jung took over the goal was to "make a western or a thriller or a heist movie, then populate that with Star Trek characters so it's more inclusive to an audience that might be a little bit reticent," according to Pegg.

What other new trailers might we see with Star Wars: The Force Awakens?

A few other 2016 movies that will most likely roll out trailers around the same time include...

X-Men: Apocalypse (May 27)

Independence Day: Resurgence (June 24)

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (March 25)

The Huntsman's Winter War (April 22)

Captain America: Civil War (May 6)

Finding Dory (June 17)

Out of all these 2016 movies with trailers on the way, which are you most looking forward to?
