The appearance of Day-Glo bikinis, James Franco with cornrows, and Skrillex this morning can only mean one thing: the trailer for Harmony Korine's Spring Breakers has finally arrived.
Disney darlings Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Benson and Rachel Korine play a group of Florida college girls too broke for a spring break getaway, so they decide to rob a fast-food joint to get the cash. A police bust lands them in jail, and they find themselves bailed out by a local drug dealer, Alien (Franco). The rest of their spring break seems to involve a lot of guns and being subjected to Alien's nasty, metal grill as he leads them to do his dirty work.
The film will have its U.S. premiere at Austin's SXSW film festival before appearing in theaters on March 29. Korine's last feature was the lo-fi Trash Humpers, full of unhinged characters doing exactly what the title suggests, so we're bound to have fun in Florida with more from the provocative, divisive filmmaker. We've included two trailers below for your viewing pleasure.
