Trey Parker and Matt Stone are the men behind the wildly popular television series South Park, its movie, and the even more wildly popular Broadway musical The Book of Mormon -- so it was probably only a matter of time before someone merged the two things into one. You know we love a good mash-up, and that’s exactly what The Book of Mormon Comes to South Park is.
If you’ve been waiting for the magical day when Mormons invade South Park to spread the love of Jesus, your wait has ended. Simon Chong has crafted an awesome video that brings the Mormon missionaries to the small town to spread the gospel, in the distinctive animation style that has made South Park a hit for years on Comedy Central.
The video features the musical’s opening number, “Hello!” sung by Mormons who go door-to-door offering their book to some of the town’s most famous citizens. The animation is perfect – maybe Stone and Parker will take note and give us a full-length crossover sometime in the not-too-distant future.
As for the song itself? It’s totally catchy – you’ll be walking around humming it to yourself for the rest of the day. Talk about ear worms…
Check out the clip below and see what you think. Now when are we gonna get that Book of Mormon movie?
