We've been beating the drum for Snowpiercer for a while now, for one simple reason: it's a sci-fi movie unlike any else hitting this year. Or any year, really. It's won us over on premise alone: a new ice age has ravaged the future and the only survivors of the human race live on a train that must perpetually circle the Earth otherwise it'll freeze, and on this train a revolution is brewing between the haves and the have-nots.
And then you look at the cast and it gets even more interesting: Chris Evans, John Hurt, Tilda Swinton, Jamie Bell, Alison Pill, Ed Harris, Ewen Bremner, Octavia Spencer, Kang-ho Song and Ko Asung. Add on the fact that it's the English-language debut of the tremendous South Korean director Joon-ho Bong (Memories of Murder, The Host) and you can understand why we've been jumping on every piece of concept art and poster we can find.
Well, today's brought out our best piece of Snowpiercer yet: the first trailer for the film. Unfortunately the quality on the video itself isn't too stellar, but that won't hold you back from getting a glimpse at the unique end-of-the-world scenario at hand here. It doesn't have a U.S. release date, though the Weinstein Company did snatch it up for distribution, but it does hit theaters in Korea this summer, so hopefully we won't be too far behind.
