A Sixties-Set Christina Hendricks May Star in Sally Potter's 'Bomb'

Dec 28, 2011

Christina Hendricks plays a 1960's secretarial sex kitten on the AMC's drama Mad Men, but the curvaceous star may be delivering another kind of explosive performance in Sally Potter's coming of age tale, Bomb. The upcoming period film already sports Elle Fanning, Alice Englert, and Alessandro Nivola, with Hendricks circling a role that has yet to be fleshed out for the moviegoing public. Annette Bening is reportedly also interested in the project.

Fanning and Englert will play UK teens navigating their way through the sixties' sexual revolution during the Cold War. Nivola is set to star as a writer sleeping with his young daughter's best friend. It's easy to imagine the actress à la a sexually confident Joan Holloway finding her place amongst the "No Nukes" story.

Since Hendricks has been accepting roles that take her out of the skin-tight pencil skirt, we're sure she saw something more in Potter's drama than another sexy ensemble. The star has certainly proved she's got the dramatic know-how, as evidenced most recently in Nicolas Winding Refn's Drive. Bomb starts shooting in London this February.
