Simon Pegg to Star in "Psycho Comedy" 'A Fantastic Fear of Everything'

Jul 27, 2011

Simon Pegg's Twitter feed has had fans anxious to find out what his secret project is, and it turns out that Star Trek 2 has nothing to do with it. Variety shared that Pegg will be starring in A Fantastic Fear of Everything -- a "psycho comedy" that is being co-directed with music video guru Chris Hopewell and Crispian Mills -- best known as the frontman for the neo-psych band Kula Shaker. Amara Karan (The Darjeeling Limited), Clare Higgins (Hellraiser), Sheridan Smith (Hysteria), and Alan Drake also star.

Pegg will play Jack -- a children's author who becomes obsessed with completing a crime novel based on the lives of Victorian serial killers. He grows into a paranoid, fearful mess -- convinced that he'll be the next to die. When his big break comes from a Hollywood exec, things take a turn for the worse and a complete nervous breakdown ensues where Jack is forced to face his worst fears --  "among them, love, laundry, and, serial killers."

There's a lot of interesting talent going into this one. Pegg's comedic talents speak for themselves. Aside from Mills' musical prowess, he has screen artistry in his blood being the grandson of English actor Sir John Mills and actress Hayley Mills. Hopewell has worked with bands like Radiohead and The Killers. The film is currently shooting in London and should be heading our way via Indomina who has secured U.S. rights to the project. Is this historical black-comedy what you were hoping for from Pegg's Twitter tease?
