Should Weird Dorky Guys Be Allowed to Wear Costumes in Movie Theaters?

Dec 22, 2010

Here's the thing: If you want to spend all sorts of money on an elaborate movie character costume and parade around some fan convention high-fiving your geeky friends while posing for pictures with people who have weird fetish addictions, then by all means have a blast. But if it's Friday night and I'm heading to the movies with my significant other, I don't need some dude in a cape and plastic sword wedging himself into the seat next to me. I don't need your pretend glow-in-the-dark lightsaber vibrating up my leg when I reach for popcorn. It's just not right.

But apparently some people feel the need to smack down a movie theater in Minnesota for not allowing "The TRON Guy" to wear his crazy, sadistic TRON outfit to the movie theater to see TRON: Legacy. The TRON guy is this dude who resembles Milton from The Office, if Milton created a replica TRON outfit from the original 1982 movie and paraded around in it for all the world to see. And when he's not working, oh, he just watches you while you sleep.

I say good for that theater for not allowing weird dudes in TRON costumes onto the premises. Make him wear real clothes just like the rest of us. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to find a quiet theater full of people so I can make a call on my cellphone ...
