Shia Labeouf in Fjogur Piano video

Do you like music videos? Do you like short films? Do you like music videos that play like short films featuring big-name A-list Hollywood talent? If you answered yes to these questions, you’re going to enjoy this post.

We come bearing gifts today – presents in the form of two new music videos. The first, a lengthy treatise from Sigur Ros entitled Fjogur Piano, features Shia LaBeouf in a way we’ve never (thankfully) seen him before: doing full-frontal nudity. The second is a more restrained, but no less entertaining piece by Slow Club featuring everyone’s favorite wizard Daniel Radcliffe in a starring role.

We’re not really sure what’s up with Shia LaBeouf lately, but the young performer has been busying himself with odd projects (like his self-drawn comic books) in what sort of seems like an attempt to re-establish his artistic credibility after appearing in tons of big-budget Hollywood films.

If that’s the case, he’s gone the Michael Fassbender route in Fjogur Piano – a nearly 8-minute music video that features LaBeouf naked, performing interpretive dance, painting on a woman’s bare breasts, and sucking on a lollipop. The piece feels more like a glossy student film than a modern music video, but it’s not without its charms. It’s a little pretentious to be sure, but some of the imagery is striking even if you’re never sure what it all really means.

Apparently, even Sigur Ros bassist Georg Holm was initially perplexed by the piece, saying “At first I didn't know what to make of the video, because it is so full of ideas and confusion, but now I completely love it. It seems to have no beginning and no end, and just makes you think about what might and might not be going on. It's a puzzle and I think it's absolutely amazing."

Amazing might be overstating it a bit, but have a peek and decide for yourself.

Obviously, this is Not Safe For Work.

Meanwhile, Daniel Radcliffe keeps all of his clothes on (he’s already done the full monty while headlining Equus) as the star of Slow Club’s new track Beginners.

While not quite as “artsy” as the Sigur Ros piece, this video does feature Radcliffe looking like he’s moving far away from the role of the famous boy wizard in the films based on JK Rowling’s popular books.

Shot in one continuous take, Beginners features Radcliffe lip-syncing along (although he’s totally off the lyrics) as he glares and glowers his way through a bar.

Radcliffe is a huge fan of the band and interviewed them when he guest edited an issue of Time Out magazine. The band was apparently impressed by how big a fan the star was, and they figured it couldn’t hurt to ask him if he’d be interested in starring in the video when the time came around. Radcliffe jumped at the chance and the rest is history.

Sounds like a win-win situation to us – Radcliffe gets to work with one of his favorite bands, and Slow Club gets the added exposure of having people watch their latest video because it features a Hollywood celebrity in the leading role. Check it out and let us know what you think. [via The Guardian]
