Of the three feature films Sharlto Copley has acted in, two-thirds are science fiction. Now Deadline tells us the unlikely South African charmer is set to notch a forth film onto his cinematic belt and take a guess as to what genre it is. Yep, Copley just can't get enough of the sci-fi, apparently. And while consistently working in the same genre may be typecasting for other hot new actors, in Copley's case we're willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. The A-Team may not have dominated the box office, but it's clear he's got star potential, so it's easy to take his attachment to any project as a vote of confidence.
The vote in question here is for a film called Europa, which Deadline further tells us is about, "a six-person team of astronauts from various international space stations who are sent by a private sector corporation to be the first manned mission to Jupiter’s fourth moon." The other astronauts on the mission are set to be Michael Nyquist (the Swedish Girl with the Dragon Tattoo trilogy), Anamaria Marinca (4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days) and Daniel Wu (Shinjuku Incident). That's actually a verrrry interesting cast, if you ask us.
Sebastian Cordero (Cronicas) will direct a script from Philip Gelatt, which Wayfare Entertainment and Misher Films will produce. As for a distributor, the film hopes to find one at the Toronto International Film Festival, where the film's producers will begin shopping it around to interested parties.
