Arnold Teases 'Terminator 5,' Will Smith Talks 'Independence Day 2,' and Is 'Clerks III' Shooting This Summer?

May 30, 2013

Clerks 2Tired of remakes and reboots? Well then, how about some news about sequels to famous movies instead? We’ve got the latest on Terminator 5, a potential sequel to Independence Day, and Clerks 3 in today’s roundup.

Of all the sequels mentioned above, I’m most looking forward to Clerks 3. The continuing adventures of Randall and Dante have always been favorites of mine – and I think they're arguably the two greatest characters in Smith’s entire filmography. With the way Clerks 2 closed, I’m interested to see where they are now. Have they grown up and become boring adults? Probably not.

Smith took to Twitter to give fans a status update on the project:

I like the sound of that – the shooting schedule means we should be returning to the convenience store sometime next year.

Schwarzenegger Updates Terminator 5, Conan and Twins Sequels

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s The Last Stand didn’t exactly set the box office on fire, but that doesn’t appear to have diminished the former Governator’s standing in Hollywood in the least. The actor turned politician turned actor offered up the following update on his in-development projects when asked about Terminator 5 by publication Metro UK:

We’re writing it now. There are three projects being written that involve me. One is Terminator 5, the other is a Conan movie that Universal is doing and there’s the sequel to Twins, which is called Triplets. We’ll all look quite different in that. The third triplet is Eddie Murphy, so figure that one out."

Will Smith Talks Independence Day 2

Will Smith and son Jaden are out doing publicity for their new sci-fi flick After Earth, but invariably the conversation eventually gets around to an earlier Smith feature, Independence Day.

The actor and son spend a few minutes chatting about how they never hear that question – and Jaden, who looks like he’s single-handedly trying to bring back Kwame’s Polka Dot era of hip-hop fashion from the early '90s, says maybe he should take over.
