Sequel Roundup: 'Wreck-It Ralph,' 'Kill Bill,' 'Trainwreck,' 'Pacific Rim' and Guillermo Del Toro's 'Star Wars' Idea

Jul 13, 2015

Here are a bunch of sequel bites for those of you who are always wanting more...

Wreck-It Ralph 2

During an interview with an Irish radio station over the weekend, John C. Reilly revealed that he's signed on for a sequel to Disney's Wreck-It Ralph. It's possible that he's been on board for a while and that this isn't actually a new development, but we can hope. Reilly voiced the title character in the 2012 original, which follows video game characters residing in a shared universe after the arcade shuts down for the night. (Coming Soon)

Kill Bill Vol. 3

With Quentin Tarantino at Comic-Con promoting his upcoming film, The Hateful Eight, he was once again asked about the possibility and status of another Kill Bill installment. "We talk about it every once in awhile or so," he answered. "We've got to wait for Vernita’s daughter to get old enough to go and kill her." As The Playlist points out, the child actress who played Vernita is almost 20 already. Whether he recasts her or not, it seems the character could be old enough to take revenge on Uma Thurman's character soon. (The Playlist)

Trainwreck 2

With Judd Apatow's latest comedy, Trainwreck, hitting theaters this weekend, we'll soon be seriously speculating about the chance of a follow-up. For now, there's a video of Apatow and stars Amy Schumer, Bill Hader and Lebron James discussing ideas. Well, really it's just James insisting he direct and have a bigger role as Schumer's new love interest. Hader is not amused, but we are. (Funny or Die)

Pacific Rim 2

Guillermo del Toro's giant robots vs. giant monsters movie, Pacific Rim, is moving forward with a promised sequel, and now we know that it will begin shooting this fall -- specifically in November. Pacific Rim 2, as it's simply titled for now, is due out on August 4, 2017. (Yahoo! Movies!)

Star Wars Anthology: Jabba's Palace

No, there wasn't a Star Wars announcement you missed in all the Force Awakens excitement at Comic-Con over the weekend. There are no plans for a Jabba the Hutt solo movie, but del Toro would love to make one if he was offered a slot in Lucasfilm's future plans. "This is me as a fat geek just geeking out and talking about it," he said. "I would do the sort of Godfather saga that Jabba the Hutt had to go through to gain control. One, because it’s the character that looks the most like me, and I like him." (Yahoo! Movies)
