Last week, Jerry Bruckheimer was busy talking about sequels to Beverly Hills Cop, Top Gun and Pirates of the Caribbean. This week, he tackles some of his other projects, most notably the Bad Boys sequel he keeps teasing us with, as well as another National Treasure movie.
Bruckheimer assures Collider that both films are going to happen. The hold up with Bad Boys 3 appears to be one of scheduling.
“It’s so funny because we’ll get Sony real excited to make the movie, and then Will [Smith] is off doing two movies. And then, Will will come back and be real excited about it, and Sony will say, ‘Well, maybe it’s not the time for this.’ And then, Ride Along came out and was a big hit, and now they’re all excited to make the movie, but Will is off doing something else. It’s just trying to get everybody together to make it. But, we’re working on the script. We have a lot of faith and hope that we’ll do it.”
Meanwhile, National Treasure 3 is still in the screenplay stage, with writer Jon Turteltaub just having turned in a first act last week. Bruckheimer explains how writing one of these films is more difficult than your standard action flick:
“Those are the hardest movies to make because they’re all based on clues. It’s so difficult to work them out. But, we got a first act in [on Friday], and Jon [Turteltaub] was very excited about it and I’m very excited about it. Hopefully, the first act will lead into the second act and the third act, and we’ll get this thing going.”
If all these projects come together, Bruckheimer looks to be a very busy fellow over the course of the next few years.
Paul W.S. Anderson reveals Resident Evil plans
With Pompeii in his rearview mirror, filmmaker Paul W.S. Anderson is set to return to the Resident Evil franchise. The filmmaker recently did an interview in China where he revealed a title for what he says will be the final film in the series, as well as a returning character.
“I have to go home tomorrow for Rising Resident Evil. That's what I'm going to do. As you know, Bingbing is in the last movie and she will be there again. .. After Resident Evil I want to come to China and shoot film again.”
We suspect the title here in the west would actually be Resident Evil Rising, but given how goofy the series is, who can say for sure?
Actress Bingbing Li appears to be returning as Ada Wong in the new film, where she’ll join Milla Jovovich. No word on when filming might get underway, but if this is the end of the line for Anderson’s exploration of the video game universe, how long do you think it will take before Sony and Capcom decide to reboot it all? Diane Lane jokes about feeling up Batman
Diane Lane seems happy to be returning to her role as Martha Kent in the upcoming Superman vs. Batman movie, so much so that she’s cracking jokes about it from the red carpet.
While at Tribeca, the actress revealed that she’d filmed a few shots for the film, which required her feeling the Superman costume. She then joked that she hadn’t had the chance to do the same with Batman’s costume yet. Let’s all just hope there are no rubber nipples to tweak… [via Just Jared]
