Sequel Buzz: Sylvester Stallone to Return in 'Escape Plan 3'; 'Thor: Ragnarok' Trailer Breaks Disney's Record

Apr 12, 2017

Forget the idea of sequel fatigue. Not only is everyone looking forward to The Fate of the Furious this weekend, but we've got the goods on more exciting follow-ups right here:

Escape Plan 3

Deadline is reporting that Sylvester Stallone has signed on for a third Escape Plan movie. That's right, Escape Plan 3. Where's Escape Plan 2, you ask? That sequel just wrapped shooting with Stallone reprising his role as prison escape artist/consultant Ray Breslin.

Arnold Schwarzenegger won't be back for that one, which is titled Escape Plan 2: Hades and due nextyear, but Stallone is joined by his Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 costar Dave Bautista. The first sequel's director, Steven C. Miller, will be back at the helm for part three, working off another script by franchise constant Miles Chapman.

The Predator

We're still not entirely sure the next Predator movie counts as a sequel or a reboot, but as long as the titular alien's design is the same, let's assume the former. The thing is, most of The Predator, which is written and directed by the original movie's costar Shane Black, still remains a secret. Fortunately, one of the new ensemble, Sterling K. Brown, was able to share a minor piece of information regarding the tone of the movie. He tells Entertainment Weekly:

"It’s got a really wicked sense of humor to it, which I love about it. And it’s got a real camaraderie amongst the main characters that I think folks will be attracted to. That’s pretty much all I can say."

Head over to EW for more on why he's been called the Bill Duke of this Predator and how he'd love to star in DC's Green Lantern. And look for The Predator in theaters February 9, 2018.

Thor: Ragnarok

How many times have you watched the new trailer for the Thor sequel? Even if you only played it once, you contributed to a special occasion. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Thor: Ragnarok trailer broke Disney's record for most views in 24 hours with more than 136 million. Previous champs were Beauty and the Beast (127.6 million), Star Wars: The Force Awakens (112 million) and Captain America: Civil War (94 million), which held the previous specific record for a Marvel movie. The current record holder for all movies is Stephen King's It (197 million), while second place goes to The Fate of the Furious (139 million).
