See Why This 'Godzilla' Collectible Is Worth Over a Million Dollars

What do you get the Godzilla fan who has everything? Well, if you’ve got a spare $1.5 million sitting around, then this 24-karat gold statue of everyone’s favorite kaiju might be just the thing you’re looking for.

The high-end collectible was designed by Japanese jewelry makers Ginza Tanaka to celebrate the giant green lizard’s 60-year anniversary. This is no gold-plated cheapo reproduction, either – this is 33 pounds of solid gold crammed into a figure that’s reportedly nine inches tall, 14 inches long, and just under eight inches wide. That’s some serious mass.

The figure comes with an acrylic box cover and a black marble base, all the better to display this gaudy golden take on the King of Monsters.

Golden Godzilla went on sale this past July. No word yet on how many have been sold. but you can see video of it below.

Maybe someone can commission a solid platinum figure of Godzilla for the release of Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla 2, which is set to stomp into theaters on June 8, 2018. Legendary Pictures has already confirmed that Rodan, Mothra and King Ghidora will appear in that film. You can currently catch Edwards’ first Godzilla movie on Blu-ray and DVD.
