You probably only remember two things about the Jimi Hendrix biopic All Is by My Side
: the studio isn't featuring any of Hendrix's music in the film, and Andre 3000, Outkast's Andre Benjamin, looks a hell of a lot like Hendrix. We have a first look at Benjamin as Hendrix at the mic, and it's pretty amazing.
We haven't heard any updates regarding the use of music in the movie. Hendrix' estate and company Experience Hendrix maintain copyright over the musician's catalogue. The studio avoided any legal issues right out of the gate by opting to not use any of Hendrix' music. It made sense, somewhat, since the story focuses on Hendrix' prefame years as a backup musician. Instead, Hendrix will perform covers of the Beatles, Muddy Waters and other artists from the era — many of the songs he performed during his early days in London, before the release of his iconic album Are You Experienced.
