The 2014 FIFA World Cup kicks off today in Brazil. The British designers at website It's Nice That, along with sister agency INT Works, are celebrating some of the most iconic events in World Cup history with a series of five-second videos.
Fives highlights memorable moments in football — the victories, the emotions and the frenzy associated with the sport. Design Taxi informs us that the collaborative project started via an open call for submissions. Diego Maradona's "hand of God" goal in 1986 is represented in the videos — the controversial score that fuled a long-standing rivalry between Argentina and England. Zinedine Zidane’s head-butt against Marco Materazzi in 2006, and the octopus oracle named Paul, who predicted the results of football matches, are also featured.
Get into the spirit of the game from afar with these great flashes of World Cup brilliance.
