This is pretty cool. Blizzard Entertainment character artist Tyson Murphy took a couple of stills from older Disney movies and gave them a digital makeover by repainting them using more modern technology.
The results, which include repainted stills from The Sword in the Stone (1963) and 101 Dalmations (1961), are prettier and more closely resemble what we'd see today. But there's also a realness and immediate charm that comes with the original version. It just pops out at you. You want to wrap your arms around it and tuck it under your pillow at night.
It's hard not to find both pretty lovable in their own unique ways, and we hope Murphy continues to experiment with these. I'd personally love to see something from The Jungle Book, which is actually getting two live-action updates as we speak, one from Warner Bros. and another from Disney.
Thoughts: Do you prefer the old or the newer?
