Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller's second chapter in the Sin City saga arrives this summer with Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. Returning stars like Jessica Alba and Mickey Rourke are a welcome sight, but the new additions to the graphic novel-inspired crime thriller have captured our attention. Here's a new set of character posters that spotlight two of the newbies — and it looks like Rodriquez and Miller are putting them through their paces.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s Johnny certainly isn't going to have an easy time of it. The actor’s battered face says it all:
Johnny, a cocky gambler, disguises a darker mission to destroy the biggest villain in Sin City at his own game. Unfortunately, he beats the wrong man and events take a turn for the worse. Along the way, he meets a young stripper named Marcy (Julia Garner).
We also get a peek at Josh Brolin’s Dwight McCarthy, who runs to the aid of his former lover Ava Lord, played by Eva Green, who is in an abusive marriage. As usual, things aren’t what they seem.
Jessica Alba's Nancy, who is still struggling to deal with the tragic death of John Hartigan (Bruce Willis), also gets a poster — and the exotic dancer is still working at the Basin City tavern. Mickey Rourke's bruiser Marv, a fan favorite, is also featured.
It seems as though everyone in A Dame to Kill For is taking a beating (physically and emotionally), but hopefully that abuse doesn’t extend to the film’s audience when the movie hits theaters in August.
