Sandra Bullock must have a team of angels looking over her…or a really incredible agent. The savvy actress took a pay cut and agreed to take a percentage of the profits for The Blind Side
, a based-on-a-true-story sports drama that has earned over $230 million and garnered her many award nominations. Bullock plays Leigh Ann Tuohy, a woman who adopts African-American Michael “Big Mike” Oher (Quinton Aaron) and nurtures him as he becomes a college football sensation. The film is directed by John Lee Hancock and is based on the novel The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game
by Michael Lewis. Kathy Bates and Tim McGraw co-star as well as several current and former NCAA coaches.
Warner Bros. is bringing this inspirational film home on March 23 on both DVD and Blu-ray. Supplements have yet to be revealed, but the Blu-ray will contain over an hour’s worth of exclusive content and will feature a 1080p picture with a DTS-HD 5.1 soundtrack. The BD will also come packaged with the DVD version and a digital copy—a trend that now seems commonplace on all new theatrical releases from the studio. Guys, since this is probably the first Sandra Bullock movie in years that your girlfriend or wife didn’t have to drag you kicking and screaming to, you might want the combo pack so you can commemorate the occasion by playing ball on all of your video devices.
