Gravity: The first trailer for the sci-fi flick Gravity looked both beautiful and terrifying, showing astronauts George Clooney and Sandra Bullock floating in space when something goes terribly wrong. A newly released image, however, proves that there's more to the movie than that, as Bullock calmly floats, sans space suit. The movie will float into theaters on October 4, and we can't wait. X-Men: Days of Future Past: Has director Bryan Singer lost his mind? Has he run out of images from X-Men: Days of Future Past that he can share without spoiling things for fans? His photos lately have been even more esoteric than usual, and the newest one, perhaps, reflects his state of mind; he captioned it: "The countryside at last." Maybe the photos contain a clue of some sort? In any event, the movie opens on May 23, 2014. [Bryan Singer]

The Sword: And, since we're in an X-Men kind of mood, we should note that writer David Hayter, who worked on X-Men, X2 and Watchmen, has been hired to adapt The Sword, a graphic novel by Jonathan and Joshua Luna (aka the Luna Brothers). The story follows a paraplegic woman who is empowered to walk again by a superpowered sword and then seeks revenge against the killers of her family. The production is aiming to get rolling early next year. [Heat Vision]

Boston Strong: Earlier this year, three people died and scores were injured in Boston as the result of two related bombings. Boston Strong, due to be published next year, is a book by Casey Sherman and Dave Wedge about the tragedy. Now, Eric Johnson and Paul Tamasy, screenwriters who worked on The Fighter -- a movie inspired by real life characters and set in Boston -- have optioned feature-film rights to the book. A source insists the pair "aren't looking to exploit the tragedy." Still, is it too soon? [The Wrap]

The Lifeguard Trailer: Kristen Bell plays a 30-year-old -- er, make that 29-year-old -- woman who returns home to live with her parents so she can nurse career and romantic disappointments. As the first trailer for The Lifeguard reveals, she takes up a job as a lifeguard, looks pretty snazzy in a modest red swimsuit, and catches the eye of a younger man, leading to all kinds of complications. Martin Starr, Mamie Gummer and Amy Madigan also star; it splashes into theaters on August 30. [Collider]
