Lots of casting news for the upcoming Captain America sequel this week, which is exciting stuff for comic movie fans.
Yesterday we learned that Frank Grillo is playing Crossbones in the upcoming feature (subtitled The Winter Soldier), and today we follow that up with revelations that aren’t entirely surprising, but are still cool.
Samuel L. Jackson and Cobie Smulders will be reprising their roles as S.H.I.E.L.D. agents Nick Fury and Maria Hill in the new feature. This was sort of expected, given that Winter Soldier is set in the present day and in New York City, but it's nice to get official confirmation. Sam Jackson could probably just play Nick Fury for the rest of his career at the rate Marvel makes comic movies…
No word yet on how involved S.H.I.E.L.D. will be in Joe and Anthony Russo’s film, but we do know that Jackson and Smulders are joining Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow in the cast, as well as Chris Evans, Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan.
