With the end of the world just weeks away (according to the Mayans), this seems like as good a time as any for world leaders to start revealing big secrets. I mean, what does it matter if we’re all dead before 2013 anyway? Isn't it time we knew who really killed Kennedy?
That seems to be the position former Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev took in a recent interview. While answering some questions off air, the official not only revealed that he still believes in Russia’s version of Santa Claus, Father Frost (although “not too deeply”), but that he was given secret government files on the existence of extraterrestrials when he took office.
“Along with the briefcase with nuclear codes, the president of the country is given a special 'top secret' folder. This folder in its entirety contains information about aliens who visited our planet," Medvedev said.
"Along with this, you are given a report of the absolutely secret special service that exercises control over aliens on the territory of our countr ... More detailed information on this topic you can get from a well-known movie called Men in Black... I will not tell you how many of them are among us because it may cause panic."
Okay, so the Men In Black line pretty much gives away the joke, but Medvedev does a great job of selling the whole thing – and it is pretty amusing to imagine a whole squad of Russian Will Smiths and Tommy Lee Joneses running Siberia.
Oh, and if you really think the world is going to end this month, NASA would like to explain to you why you’re wrong.
