Julianne Hough and Russell Brand are officially set to star in Diablo Cody’s as yet untitled (it appears as though the Lamb of God title previously reported has been scrapped...) directorial debut according to Deadline.
Sources from Mandate Pictures tell the site that Hough, fresh off her appearance in the Footloose remake, will play “a sheltered young woman who loses her faith after a plane crash and revels in the decadence of Las Vegas. There, she meets an unlikely companion who helps her find herself.” Sounds…delightful. Cody, best known as the writer of films like Juno, Jennifer’s Body, and the upcoming Charlize Theron vehicle Young Adult, will not only direct but handle scripting duties as well.
The film is set to start shooting in the spring, with Lionsgate set to shop international distribution rights at the upcoming American Film Market.
Do you have any interest in seeing a film directed by Diablo Cody or is she a one trick pony – sort of like the female version of Scream screenwriter Kevin Williamson – whose 15 minutes of fame are almost down to zero? Weigh in below.
