We live for a good rumor around these parts – because even if they’re outlandish and totally implausible, it’s always fun to look at these sorts of things and consider the possibilities. Today, we’ve got three hot new bits of gossip making the rounds. Is there any truth to them? Only time will tell.

First up, we’ve got a bit of suspicious casting news involving Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice -- one of the most anticipated films of 2016. The major parts have been filled, but a Spanish website – El Multicine – has gotten tongues wagging with a tidbit that another big name actress might be joining the fray.

According to the site, Emily Blunt could play a role in the new film. Here’s the translated version of the story:

“The actress Emily Blunt will land on billboards worldwide with her film Edge of Tomorrow, in what appears to be a great science fiction role. Now her name returns to the orbit of comic adaptations with her possible incorporation in Batman v Superman, directed by Zack Snyder, a film that has been shooting since last month.”

We have no clue who she’d play, and we suspect this report is pure bunk. [via Moviehole]

Could Robert Pattinson Be the New Indiana Jones?

Robert PattinsonRemember when everyone was mortified that the Indiana Jones films would continue on with Shia LaBeouf in the leading role? We all seem to have dodged a bullet there, but the latest rumor has another actor sure to annoy hard-core fans reaching for the iconic bullwhip.

Twilight star Robert Pattinson is allegedly the front-runner to eventually replace an aging Harrison Ford as Disney considers what to do with the franchise moving forward.

“Disney is looking at its long-term options for the Indiana Jones franchise. They feel that the series has huge potential on many levels, starting with the films leading to other spin-offs like games which can generate more money than movies. Rob is top of the initial list because he has showed his acting stripes away from Twilight. But the competition will be stiff."

Pattinson seemed less and less enthused about being the face of a franchise as the Twilight series wore on, so we’d be surprised if he were particularly interested in taking another major role like this – especially one where he’s sure to face the ire of angry neckbeards.

Since Disney doesn’t even seem to know what it’s doing with the Indiana Jones franchise at this point, we wouldn’t put a whole lot of stock into this report. [via CinemaBlend]

Will Jared Leto Don Dr. Strange’s Iconic Cape?

Dr. Strange

With Scott Derrickson ready to bring Marvel’s Dr. Strange to the big screen, we can now get back to wondering just who exactly is going to play the master of the occult in the film.

Previous rumors had everyone from Johnny Depp to Mads Mikkelsen landing the role, but the latest buzz surrounds Academy Award Winner Jared Leto.

A source at Marvel tells Badass Digest that the studio “liked or likes” Leto for the part – which isn’t exactly a confirmation of anything. This could mean he was considered at one point and they moved on, or that they’re still thinking about it, or that he’s just on some hypothetical list of potential actors the guys at Marvel could see playing the part. See? Aren’t rumors fun?

Like Pattinson above, Leto doesn’t really seem like the kind of guy who’d want the headache of fronting this sort of action franchise. Playing Dr. Strange would tie the actor into working not only on films in that series, but making crossover appearances in other films. Leto’s always been a bit eccentric when it comes to picking his roles, and it’s hard to see him gravitating to a big summer blockbuster. We’re not saying it couldn’t happen – but we wouldn’t freak out about this news until we get a lot more confirmation that he’s even still on the short list of potential candidates. [via /Film]
