A New 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' Trailer Will Drop Next Week

Jul 06, 2016

July is going to be a very busy month for some of the bigger, more geek-friendly movie franchises, what with two major fan conventions taking place back to back: Star Wars Celebration and San Diego Comic Con.

The latter will feature a big showdown between Marvel and DC, both expected to make major presentations, but the former -- an annual event celebrating all things Star Wars -- will drop a bunch of goodies during its three-day run in London, one of which will be a new trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

According to reports, ABC will air the documentary Secrets Of The Force Awakens: A Cinematic Journey next Friday night (July 15), and they'll debut a new Rogue One trailer along with it -- potentially timed to its debut in London during the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story presentation at Celebration.

The doc may sound familiar, and if so that's because it's also one of the special features on the Force Awakens Blu-ray. But who cares -- new Star Wars! And apparently the trailer could run up to three minutes long, which means it'll be a pretty extensive look at the film.

Will they reveal Darth Vader for the first time? Will we learn of other classic characters appearing in the film? Will we learn more about the story and who Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) is? Lotta questions we have, but good news is the way ain't that long.

A new Rogue One trailer won't be the only Star Wars treat to drop during Celebration. Keep in mind this is a three-day event with panels covering everything from movies and TV shows to video games and more. Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher will each have their own panels, and on Sunday July 17, another huge panel will host the future Star Wars filmmakers, including Rogue One's Gareth Edwards, Star Wars Episode VIII's Rian Johnson, the Han Solo directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller and more.

Just how much of the footage and art revealed at Celebration will you get to see? We don't know yet. But considering Disney loves the share that stuff almost immediately after debuting it, chances are strong you'll not only get a mouthful of Rogue One, but also some tasty teases of what's to come.

We'll be on the ground at Star Wars Celebration this year, so keep it tuned in right here for all the latest buzz from a galaxy far, far away.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hits theaters on December 16.
