We're still not sure exactly what motivated the decision to push G.I. Joe: Retaliation back 9 months (it's now arriving in theaters on March 29th, 2013 versus June 29th, 2012), but it's officially a done deal. Some say it's simply to add 3D for the studio to get more bang for their buck, while others have taken it one step further claiming the film must be awful for them to make a move like this 5 weeks out from release. Whatever the case may be, we know that they'll be spending these 9 months upgrading to 3D, but they'll also be shooting new scenes for that 3D upgrade.
That comes straight from Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, who we figured would be the one to let us know what's really happening behind the scenes. He's always been outspoken on Twitter, and here he reveals they'll be shooting additional scenes to go along with that 3D -- stuff specifically designed for 3D, which will hopefully make the entire conversion play better. Or not.
We'll have more on the G.I. Joe: Retaliation release date switch later on in today's episode of Movies Chat, so stay tuned.
