If you didn’t get enough comic movie news with this morning’s update on all things DC, we’re back with some Marvel-related goodness that has us totally geeking out.
Deadline is reporting that actor Robert Redford is in talks to join Chris Evans in Captain America: Winter Soldier. That’s some pretty big and unexpected news.
Should Redford join the cast, early buzz is that he’ll be playing a senior member of S.H.I.E.L.D. – which means we’ll get to see Redford working alongside Samuel L. Jackson. Can a S.H.I.E.L.D. buddy comedy starring these two be far behind? We hope so.
Kidding aside, if Redford accepts the gig it could mean that he’ll be appearing in a lot of other upcoming Marvel projects in some capacity, which is a definite win for Marvel and Disney, even if it is (as Deadline points out) sort of odd that one of the biggest champions of independent film would find himself working in one of Hollywood’s biggest franchises.
As is normal, Marvel boss Kevin Feige has had no comments on these new rumors.
At any rate, should this news pan out, it would be almost as awesome as hearing Redford was getting the gang back together to make a Sneakers sequel. Seriously. We kinda love that movie.
