We’re just days away from the highly anticipated debut of Rian Johnson’s sci-fi film Looper – and to get you ready for the film's release this Friday, we’re sharing this recent video interview with the filmmaker.
Edward Douglas at ComingSoon.net had a chance to sit down and chat with Johnson about the upcoming feature – a sci-fi noir flick that finds Joseph Gordon-Levitt tasked with performing a hit on the future version of himself (played by Bruce Willis). Early buzz for the film has been phenomenal, and Douglas got Johnson to open up about how the film was conceived, how he came to work with production designer Ed Verreux (of Raiders of the Lost Ark fame) and more.
It’s interesting to hear Johnson talk about how Looper was originally conceived as a short film before he made his feature debut, Brick (which went on to win a Sundance award for Originality of Vision). It took years from the time the idea first occurred to him to get the film turned into a feature and ready for release, but it appears as though the wait was worth it.
We won’t spoil the rest of the interview here – because there are lots of interesting asides and observations in the 14-minute chat – but check it out below and see what you think.
