First Trailer for the High-Flying George Lucas-produced 'Red Tails'

Jul 29, 2011

We won't get to see what the first non-franchise production from Lucasfilm in two decades looks like until January of next year, but if this brand-new trailer is any indication ... it definitely has a bigger budget than the HBO flick The Tuskegee Airmen, which (I do believe) covers pretty much the exact same story as Red Tails. But with George Lucas on board as a producer, we can surely expect some truly amazing aerial battles.

Directed by television veteran Anthony Hemingway and penned by screenwriter John Ridley (Three Kings), Red Tails will pay big-screen homage to the aforementioned Tuskegee airmen, aka the first black air force squadron. Cast members include Terrence Howard, Bryan Cranston and ... Cuba Gooding Jr. (Yes, really.) I recommend you focus more on the visual splendor of the following trailer -- and less on the patently generic dialogue being tossed across the screen.
