Another busy day. Let's take a look at the news for the day:
Yesterday Stanley Tucci signed on to play the host of Hunger Games. Today, we learn that Woody Harrelson is the latest famous face to join the cast which features Jennifer Lawrence in the lead. Harrelson will play the coveted role of Haymitch Abernathy, a former Games winner who preps Katniss and Peeta. John C. Reilly had originally been rumored for the role.
Rachel Weisz is close to joining Jeremy Renner in The Bourne Legacy. No word yet on what her role will be exactly, but Deadline reports that the actress has been in deep talks to star opposite Renner as a Bourne Girl. Weisz is also rumored to be in talks for Disney’s Oz: The Great and Powerful.
Darren Aronofsky may have found his next project and it stars George Clooney. The Black Swan director is considering directing the sci-fi film Human Nature, from a script that has been kicking around for almost 15 years. Clooney is attached to star as a man who is awakened from cryogenic storage to find that humans have become the pets of another species. [Vulture]
Brett Ratner has signed on to direct The 39 Clues, originally a directing vehicle for Steven Spielberg. The multi-platform story from Scholastic Media gives insight into the Cahills, the world’s most powerful family, with each book providing clues to the nature of their power and wealth. The book series is currently on its 11th volume.
Ethan Hawke has agreed to make a cameo appearance in the upcoming Total Recall remake. Columbia Pictures isn’t providing details about Hawke’s walk-on. The remake stars Colin Farrell in the Schwarzenegger role with Bryan Cranston as the villain and Len Wiseman from Live Free or Die Hard directing.
Veteran French actor Jean Reno has signed on to Tyler Perry’s, I, Alex Cross, a thriller based on the John Patterson character that has already attracted Matthew Fox and Ed Burns.
