X-Men: Days of Future Past

X-Men: Days of Future Past: Are you feelin' groovy? New photos from the set of X-Men: Days of Future Past reveal the cool 1970s threads being worn by Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy, with a bonus shot of Peter Dinklage looking villainous. The movie opens on July 18, 2014. [Collider]

Black Mass: Johnny Depp has dropped out of the lead role in Black Mass, the film version of the life of Boston gangster-turned-informant Whitey Bulger. The reasons for his exit are in dispute, however, with an initial report claiming he refused a pay cut from his usual $20 million to $10 million, while a later report saying the deal was scotched when the original financial details were leaked. Barry Levinson is still attached to direct as the producers search for a replacement. [The Hollywood Reporter / Screen Daily]

Bad Santa 2: A sequel to the 2003 black comedy Bad Santa is inching forward with news that Doug Ellin (creator of HBO's Hollywood-insider comedy Entourage) has been hired to rewrite the script. Two years ago we heard that two separate scripts had been commissioned from two different writers; evidently only one survived the cut, but still needs work. Billy Bob Thornton, who starred in the original, is planning to return for the sequel. [Deadline]

Prisoners Trailer: Hugh Jackman puts away his adamantium claws but remains just as fierce in the dramatic thriller Prisoners, in which he plays a father who is desperate to get his daughter back after she is kidnapped along with a neighbor friend. The intense trailer showcases the great cast, including Viola Davis, Terrence Howard, Jake Gyllenhaal and Paul Dano. The movie is heading to theaters on September 20. [Vulture]
