'Pottermore' Revealed to Be the Ultimate 'Harry Potter' Fansite, Plus Big-Screen 'Potter' Marathon Just Announced

Jun 23, 2011

Considering all the little bits and pieces we've managed to piece together regarding Pottermore so far, today's official video announcement from J.K. Rowling isn't much of a surprise. Pottermore is not another new book or movie; it's a brand new website that looks to be the ultimate Harry Potter fansite, with digital (and audio) copies of all the books, games, puzzles, chat rooms, social networking tools -- essentially every little nugget of the Harry Potter universe will be housed inside this site for fans to scour over for all eternity. Harry Potter may be ending for good when Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 arrives in theaters next month, but the boy wizard and his friends will live on for eternity through the new Pottermore website ... and, well, we wouldn't be surprised if Rowling throws fans a few new goodies once and awhile to keep them on their toes. This franchise is way too massive to give up now, especially since it's still going strong.

Check out Rowling's introductory video to Pottermore below.

Also, fans who want to catch up on all the Harry Potter movies before seeing Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 can do so via a very special big-screen Harry Potter marathon. AMC will be hosting a 4-night, 8-movie marathon beginning on July 11th and ending on July 14th with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1, which will then run directly into the first midnight showing of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2. The cost is $45, but Potter fans will take away an unforgettable experience they'll remember for the rest of their lives, for sure. Hit up AMC for more info on that, and let us know in the comments if you plan on visiting Pottermore and taking part in the 8-movie marathon.
