Prepare to get the shivers, readers, it's time for a brisk new Poster-Crop Quiz. With this week's release of The Devil's Due, it's clear that the weather outside isn't the only thing that's frightful this winter. January has slowly been transforming into the new October, with many studios releasing horror titles right at the beginning of the year. Granted, these aren't always the strongest offerings of the genre, in fact many of them are downright awful, but their posters are usually pretty fantastic.
We've gathered posters from 10 years worth of January-released horror films and then slashed them apart with everything from hatchets to chainsaws. See if you can identify these posters and leave your guesses in the comment section. The first person to name all 10 will receive a shout-out in next week's quiz. It won't protect you against the cold (nor against maniacs, monsters or mutants), but it might just warm your heart... no, it won't.
To get things started, check out the poster for Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones; released earlier this month. I didn't think much of the film, but it's hard not to dig the sinister gothic-nightmare fodder of its poster.
Last week's answers: Deep Blue Sea, Driven, The Long Kiss Goodnight, Nightmare on Elm Street 4, Cliffhanger, The Covenant, Mindhunters, Cutthroat Island, Die Hard 2, Exorcist The Beginning. Congrats to Paul, who aced last week's Renny Harlin poster quiz.
