Pompeii: The ancient city of Pompeii was destroyed after Mount Vesuvius erupted, but you better believe there was plenty of drama before that happened, and new images from Paul W.S. Anderson's Pompeii suggest the strong emotions involved. Kit Harrington and Emily Browning star as a slave and his one true love, respectively, with Kiefer Sutherland taking on the villainous role of a senator who wants to take Browning's hand in marriage. The movie explodes in theaters on February 21. [USA Today]

Vince Lombardi: Even if you're not a sports fan, you may have heard of the legendary football coach Vince Lombardi, whose Green Bay Packers won the first two Super Bowls. Now it will be up to Academy Award-nominated writer J.C. Chandor (Margin Call) to turn Lombardi's life story into a movie. Chandor is currently winning acclaim for All Is Lost, a survival tale he wrote and directed, starring Robert Redford; Chandor may direct the Lombardi biopic as well, but he's already set to direct A Most Violent Year with Jessica Chastain early next year. [Deadline]

Rodham: Several biographical movie projects have been proposed about the life and times of Hilllary Rodham Clinton, but one of them finally appears to be inching forward. Lionsgate is in early talks to back Rodham, which would focus on the "formative years of former first lady and secretary [of] state and potential presidential candidate" Clinton. James Ponsoldt (The Spectacular Now) appears set to direct, though the important question of who would play the titular role is still to be determined. [Deadline]

I, Frankenstein TV Spot: How do you convey the weird mix of monsters and mythology that has been evidenced in the full-length trailers for the upcoming I, Frankenstein in just 30 seconds? A new TV spot sells Frankenstein (Aaron Eckhart) as an action hero for a new age, flying through the air in slow motion and battling all kinds of bizarre creatures, all "to defend us." The movie flies into theaters on January 24. [Lionsgate]
