Grab some Tylenol or a stiff drink, because an essay by social media manager Jon Negroni is about to blow your mind... or give you an enormous headache, depending on your level of nerd toleration. Negroni became obsessed with a theory about the movies from animation studio Pixar that he first saw posed by a few folks on Crack.com. You can catch up with that clip, below.
The basic idea is that some people believe Pixar movies aren't really separate storylines. To many, Pixar's characters and narratives actually exist within the same universe. Negroni developed "The Pixar Theory" and provided a timeline that links events and figures on his website. It's a lengthy read, which is best absorbed on your own. A quick summation: Negroni sees Brave as the first and last movie in the timeline and argues that the witch from the 2012 film — about a young girl in the Scottish Highlands who seeks independence — sparked a population of intelligent animals. This action set up a power struggle in the future films between humans, animals and machines.
Dig into Negroni's essay over here. Let us know if you think it's a theory that merits further study, or if it's just a bunch of nerd talk digging for meaning that isn't there.
