Great Movies Based on Nonexistent Video Games

Wreck-It Ralph opens this weekend, bringing the world yet another Disney movie based on a video game that doesn’t actually exist. After all, the world of Tron was built on video games, but back then Disney didn’t go after other video game characters to try to incorporate them into a world populated by Jeff Bridges and Bruce Boxleitner. Unless you count the unbilled cameo from Pac-Man.

But where the producers of Wreck-It Ralph have made an effort to put familiar video game faces in their film, the movie is based on a fake video game. It’s a been a trend in Hollywood for many years, and so in honor of Disney’s newest animated film, we give you the seven best movies based on video games that aren’t real.
